Accountant

Primary Purpose of the Position:

Plan, direct and coordinate the activities relating to accounting,costing,fiscal reporting and cashflow management functions, value added tax administration, risk management, financial budgets and controls relating to sound and ethical business practices in adherence to legislative and corporate accounting standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • ·         Initiate, plan, implement and monitor monthly and annual Financial and Fiscal reporting.
  • ·         Recruit, develop, motivate and appraise direct reporting staff according to company procedures, policy and employment law.
  • ·         Initiate and set up financial and administrative systems, operating procedures and controls for finance/administration,procurement,operations,maintenance,storage,dispatch,distribution,debtors,creditors,marketing and sales functions.
  • ·         Actively engage in measures to monitor, improve and optimize profitability throughout the organization and to achieve budgeted targets.
  • ·         Ensure administrative and financial controls and systems are in compliance with company, statutory and IFRS requirements and procedures.
  • ·         Manage financial statements and reporting
  • ·         Compile annual budgets in line with company requirements and procedures.
  • ·         Maintain master data and pricing systems and procedures.
  • ·         Carry out ongoing audits and controls on all financial and operational activities.
  • ·         Stock control and asset management.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION

  • ·         Relevant tertiary Degree (NQF6) with five years experience or Grade 12 (NQF4) with 15 years relevant experience.
  • ·         Preference will be given for experience in the FMCG market
  • ·         Computer literate with a good mastering of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.
  • ·         Must be able to communicate well in English and Afrikaans.
  • ·         Must be willing to travel extensively.
  • ·         Valid Driver’s License and Namibian passport.
