B2Gold Namibia Pty LTD is a 90% owned subsidiary of B2Gold
Corp.B2Gold Namibia’s portfolio includes the Otjikoto Mine in north central
Namibia as well as the extensive base metal concessions in northern
Namibia.Otjikoto’s construction was completed in 2014, and the first gold
poured in December 2014 – with 2015 being its first full year of production.
Mine Geology
Superintendent
Introduction
This position is responsible for running the long term and
the day-to-day aspects of the mine geology section to meet the needs of an
expanding operation while maintaining and international standard of practice
and high level of internal communications. The Mine Geology Superintendent will
manage the open pit mine ore control activities, geologic interpretation, grade
control drilling and delivering production data and reports.
Location and
reporting structure
This position will be based at the Otjikoto Mine and will
report directly to the Technical Services Manager.
Duties and
Responsibilities
- Ensure long term plan to meet the needs of the Mine Plan
- Optimize the extraction of mineralized zones and minimize dilution.
- Design grade control drilling program and ensure adequate drilling coverage.
- Ensure a representative sample
- Liaise with Assay Laboratories to ensure compliance to standards through QAQC.
- Manage the production of grade control estimates
- Manage production activities in the pit to optimize extraction and realize resource potential.
- Maintain the site geological model and a database of up to date geological observations.
- Liaise with Load and Haul on a daily basis to ensure minimal ore loss and dilution.
- Assist with design of open pit mine development. Assure safe working practices and environment, cooperate with other departments in safety programs.
- Prepare clearly written monthly report and other documentation as required.
- Perform reconciliations
- Assist in mine planning activities for both short-term and long-term.
- Ensure that geological considerations are incorporated in short and long term planning.
- Training and mentoring of geologists and junior geologists.
- Report to corporate to ensure with company standards.
- Liaise with corporate resource department for new reserve and resource estimates.
- Maintain constructive and effective working relationships with B2Gold employees, contractors and consultants.
- Perform other duties as required in support of company objectives.
Competencies and
Requirements:
- BSc Degree with post graduate qualification in Geology, Geologic Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years experience, at least 10 years exposure to mining and 5 years at supervisory level.
- Proficient in geostatistics,3D orebody modeling
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products and at least one mining software package, preferably Surpac.
- Experience with workplace safety programs.
