Financial Controller (DU)

Purpose of the job:

Accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial report, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the companies reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

Minimum Requirements:

Chartered Accountant with completed articles and registered with the relevant professional body.

5 years post qualifying experience in a group of similar size and complexity of which at least 3 years must have been at management level.

SAP FI/CO experience.

Key Performance Areas:

• IFRS accounting
• Treasury function
• Coordination of internal and external auditing
• Management accounting and reporting
• Budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning
• Capital expenditure management
• Corporate governance
• Direct and indirect taxation
• Payroll
• Accounts payable and Accounts receivable liaison

Financial Accountant (DL)

Purpose of the Job:

Accountable for balance sheet and payroll management ensuring the accuracy of the reported financial results of the company in line with group governance standards.

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree in Financial Accounting
• 5 years post qualification financial accounting experience, of which 3 must have been at a management level in a large organization.
• Knowledge of IFPRS
• Relevant knowledge of taxation regulations and the Companies Act.
• Experienced in relevant Microsoft Office applications

Key Performance Areas:

• Balance sheet management
• Working capital management
• Payroll management
• Governance and Control – Internal and External Audit
• Subsidiary companies administration
• Direct and indirect taxation
• Staff management

Main Function of the Role:

To provide efficient accounting and bookkeeping skills to the Hollard Life Namibia finance team.

Scope of Work:

As a Financial Accountant the successful incumbent will be part of a fast-paced working environment, providing efficient bookkeeping skills in our finance team.

The role reports to the Financial Manager. The successful incumbent will be required to demonstrate the ability to work independently as this role will be a support function to the Financial Manager.

Key Performance Areas of the Role:

Ensure financial information of the role:

• Ensure financial information is received timeously.
• Oversee the daily and monthly accounting functions
• Recording and reconciling of financial information.
• Reconciliation of debtors and creditors.
• Assist with management accounts and regulatory returns.
• Assume responsibility for your own technical development.

Minimum Requirements and Experience:

• Matric 25 points or more.
• A Bachelors Degree in Accounting
• A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a financial environment
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft applications.
• Experience working with an Accounting Package.
