Position: Project / Site Manager (Swakopmund )
Duration: Duration of project – expected August 2016 to March 2017
Type of Contract: Fixed Term Contract Position
Remuneration: Commensurate with experience
Sector: Construction – Solar Power
This successful candidate will report directly to the Project Manager for the construction of a 5 MW PV Solar Farm in Trekoppje near Swakopmund (or one similar near Okatope).
Required Skills & Experience:
• Project and Site Management (including management of sub-contractors), Technical Understanding & Ability to Read & Interpret Drawings, Documentation Skills, Supervision & Project Timeline Tracking
• Good understanding of, and ability to use construction contracts as an effective Project Management tool.
• Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Software, MS Project & AutoCAD an advantage
• Electrical qualification or training an advantage but at least must possess a broad understanding of the major construction engineering disciplines, i.e., Civil, Mechanical and Electrical.
• A minimum range of two years’ site construction experience
• Knowledge of solar PV a definite advantage (but not a necessity)
Job Description:
• Perform the duties of Project Manager and taking responsibility for the completion of the project on time and in budget.
• Completing all assigned tasks as delegated by the Company.
• Implementation of internal and external engineering and logistical activities through various sub-contractors
• Ensure technical requirements defined in the contract are properly incorporated in the project deliverables.
• Manage and facilitates communication across the project functions to ensure that the project objectives and needs are met.
• Coordinate Project and Site Progress Reviews.
• Monitor the execution of the quality assurance program for conformance to project requirements.
• Liaise with PE with regards to any technical & design-related issues pertaining to the project
• Control Cost and Forecasting activities for the project
• Monitor project progress; coordinate activities & resolve problems.
• Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed through management of staff & sub-contractors.
